Midmarket Firms Embrace the Cloud

A recent study by Deloitte shows that midmarket firms are finally being to see and embrace the benefits of investing in cloud as part of their business growth strategy. The findings done as part of the 2015 Deloitte Growth Enterprise Services (DGES) survey show that midmarket CIOs have incresingly greater confidence in the cloud and cloud security compared to 2014 or 2013.

Key findings from Deloitte:

• 67% of respondents have increased technology spend in 2015 compared to 58% in 2014
• 30% of midmarket firms now spend over 5% of revenue on technology close to double 2014
• Big data/analytics and cloud applications such as Office 365 are seen to drive the largest business benefit
• Cyber Security is marked as the highest-impact trend of the next year

From May 29, 2015 to June 16, 2015, a Deloitte survey conducted by OnResearch, a market research firm, polled 500 mid-market executives to explore technology trends, determine the role and value of technology, and help gauge how it influences business decisions. Survey respondents were limited to executives at companies with annual revenues ranging from $100 million to more than $1 billion.
