(SDA Asia Magazine) March 21, 2006 -- Juniper Networks continues to be the market share leader in the Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network (SSL VPN) market, according to Infonetics Research, Inc.'s recent report titled, 'Network Security Appliances and Software Quarterly Worldwide Market Share and Forecasts for 4Q05.' According to the report, Juniper Networks garnered 32 percent revenue market share within the SSL VPN product category during the fourth quarter of 2005 and 33 percent revenue market share for the full year, which was more than double the next ranking competitor.

'Juniper continues to be a market leader, driving its security products revenue through innovation and high-performance. They posted significant growth in 4Q05 in the SSL VPN category, seizing the number one market share position in both revenue and units shipped since 2004. The Secure Access SSL VPN product line has maintained a significant revenue lead over other vendors since the inception of this product category,' said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for VPNs and Security at Infonetics Research.

The same report recognized Juniper Networks as #2 in the high-end firewall and virtual private network (FW/VPN) product category (greater than or equal to USD 30,000 price band), with 34 percent revenue market share during 4Q05 and for the full year. The Juniper Networks high end firewall/VPN products include the NetScreen-5000 series, delivering up to 30Gbps high-end firewall and 15Gbps VPN throughput, and the Integrated Security Gateway (ISG) 1000 and 2000 firewall/VPNs. Juniper Networks set the standard for multi-service security gateways by offering medium-to-large enterprises, carriers and data centers the ISG 1000 and 2000 platforms as a single firewall/VPN service or with intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) as an elective add-on to protect its networks with increased levels of delivery and threat controls. Customers continue to recognize the value of Juniper Networks' next generation firewall with intrusion detection and prevention capabilities.

'Juniper continues to give its high-end FW/VPN product line visibility with customer wins and new product introductions. According to our research, since the release of the ISG 1000, 2000 and IDP modules, Juniper has grown its high-end FW/VPN and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) revenue faster than the overall high-end firewall and IPS markets,' added Wilson.
