The Alcatel-Lucent 1830 Photonic Service Switch ( PSS) is Alcatel-Lucent's new generation Metro WDM platform, providing the industry-first photonic switching solution for flexible and automated Metro WDM networking. Building on its unique Zero-Touch Photonics technology - which enables easier operations for reduced costs and accelerated time to market for wavelength services - the Alcatel-Lucent 1830 PSS is poised to meet the new requirements for a next-generation photonic network - beyond what is available today with ROADM technology - able to mimic the flexibility, automation and fast time-to-service capabilities of electrical-based transport networks.
The Alcatel-Lucent 1830 PSS goes beyond traditional ROADM architecture limitations by offering a unique, fully tunable and reconfigurable (T&ROADM) architecture for wavelength switching, and integrates unique optical monitoring capabilities essential for end-to-end photonic traffic monitoring and fault localization at the wavelength level.
